This month, we are fortunate to host Baltimore based producer James P as our guest mix for Bonsai Radio. James began making dubstep in 2007, prior to finding his niche in the more melodic, funk inspired side of productions with the release of his EP "DANK 'N' DIRTY DUBS" in 2013. Most recently, he released his EP "NEW CONTENT" featuring a host of talented friends, whom he derives much of his inspiration from, such as @butchdawson, @martinjballou, and @koobideh. This EP captured the diversity of his arsenal to perfection, featuring funk driven beats, whimsical bounces, heavy hitting drums, and an assortment of RnB and Hip Hop tunes that leave you head boppin' throughout. His ethereal sound truly takes you to a higher place, and is done so through his knack for recording the majority of his tracks live. His utilization of his Yamaha dx7, Roland dj-xi, korg electribe, and live guitar give his songs an organic feel, and is recorded in a studio built and run by him in The Grotto, located in Baltimore, Maryland. His versatility when it comes to music is captured flawlessly in this mix, each song having their own unique style while still being identifiable as that signature james p sound.
